This blog has sat, untouched, for 4 months now. It was supposed to be a summer project where my dad and I could work together; him showing me the ropes and me creating something of value. Unfortunately, that never happened, due entirely to my disinterest and laziness. But now I return with a new purpose. I want to use this platform to practice my copywriting in an attempt to gain a new skill. A new skill that will hopefully produce results in the form of a hobby and eventually something I can make money from.
For a couple hours tonight I have been reading and watching content on making money from home. Or remote working. Or financial independence. Which ever verbiage you fancy. All of which has lead me to dead ends or checkout pages. Through this I’ve come to the realization that if I want to make money, remotely or not, I need to gain more skills that people will pay me for. That is the bottom line. There are people out there with money. I want that money. Why should they give it to me? At this point, I don’t have much to offer. So the best thing I can do for myself is gain skills with which I can offer my service! Skills that will allow me to perform jobs/tasks for people who don’t want to do it themselves. That is how I got here. Writing is something I’ve always enjoyed (to a certain extent). Writing for school could range from tolerable to the most excited I ever was for a school assignment. Writing on personal time has ranged from fictional short stories to poems for my lovely girlfriend. That latter of which has earned me many kudos 😉 Writing is the one thing where I always thought I had a leg up on others around me, so it’s about damn time I used that leg to get a little higher.
I hope this post wasn’t born of some weird, one-time spurt of energy, doomed to sit unbothered for another 4 months. Instead I hope to come back tomorrow and make a second post. The second step. The second leg up on others. And maybe some day, far, far in the future, I can reference this post in my New York Times Bestselling Novel as the start of my writing journey.
